POETRY (A WOMAN AND TWO BOTTLES OF WINE)

A WOMAN AND TWO BOTTLES OF WINE

In sympathy with those who innocently cherish wine but get spurned by the holier-than-thou prigs.

BY: NASSER YOUSAF

Here she alights

From a fanciful flight

That carries her all the way

From the lofty northern heights

Where wine is brewed for eons

To a universal delight

Full-bosomed, prettily attired

In fabulous floral pink and white

Her canvas bag dangles back n forth

As she flips

And flops

And while she canters past

A pot-bellied cop

Who grins at her bag

And orders her to stop

Grotesque, he blurts

Don't you know it's contraband

She is taken to the judge

To whose notice the matter is brought

With two narrow slits

Where eyes are perched and sit

He hailed from the land

Of Ravi and Chenab

But tirelessly flaunted his foreign climes

A land where Baloch pride on their might

So with full reserves of ire

And his proverbial bias

He squinted at the woman

And ordered with a flourish

In the long arms of law

She ought to languish

Till little is left of her

Save her one last breath

Silly of anyone to saunter forth with contraband as if she was ignorant or had immunity? Then why should she get away with impunity???!!!
